PRICING

  • Tour cost total: $3,500

    Our payment schedule applies to journey costs only and is structured as follows:

    1. Initial Deposit: $500 non-refundable deposit required at the time of booking.

    2. 90 Days Prior to Departure: 50% of the total journey cost is due.

    3. 60 Days Prior to Departure: Remaining balance is due.

    Important Notes:

    • If your reservation is made within 60 days of departure, full payment is due at the time of booking.

    • If you pay the full amount at the time of booking, payment processing fees will be waived.

    • If you choose the payment plan outlined above, you are responsible for payment processing fees for each transaction.

ITINERARY

  • Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

    Welcome to Dar es Salaam!

    There will be no scheduled activities on this day since everyone will be flying in. Check into the Dar es Salaam hotel and meet the other travelers and me in the group.

  • Location: Dar es Salaam/Kilwa Masoka

    After breakfast, we will travel by car to Kilwa Masoka. Once we arrive, you will have the afternoon for yourselves. The accommodation is by the beach. In the evening, there will be a group dinner.

  • Location: Kilwa Masoka

    We will wake up early to take dhows (Arab lateen-rigged boats) to the UNESCO Heritage site of the Ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani and Songo Mnara. These were significant port cities for East African trade from the ninth to the nineteenth centuries. Local guides will give us a walking tour of both cities. Make sure to put on good walking shoes!

  • Location: Kilwa Masoka/Nyerere National Park

    We will have breakfast in Kilwa Masoka and drive to Nyerere National Park. Once we arrive at camp, we will have lunch and embark on a half-day boat safari. We will have dinner at sunset and head to bed early for a full-day game drive. We will stay in the lodge overnight.

    Make your cameras charged overnight! We will embark on a full-day game drive. You will see animals and, hopefully, the Big 5. The lodge will provide all meals. We will stay in the lodge overnight.

    We will spend the second day on a full-day game drive. The lodge will provide all meals, and we will stay overnight again.

  • Location: Nyerere National Park/Dar es Salaam

    Today, after breakfast, we will depart Nyerere National Park and head back to Dar es Salaam. After we check in at the hotel, you have the rest of day to rest or explore the city.

  • Location: Dar Es Salaam/Bagamoyo

    After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to Bagamoyo, a prominent port city in coastal Tanzania, along the route of the East African slave trade. Our local guide will show us around the ruins and the city. We will have lunch in Bagamoyo’s Stonetown. We will then return to Dar Es Salaam in the evening. You can enjoy the evening on your own.

  • Location: Dar Es Salaam/Zanzibar

    We will check out of the Dar es Salaam Hotel and take a ferry to Zanzibar. We will the check-in to the hotel in Stonetown and head out to Forodhani Gardens Night Market for dinner.

  • Location: Zanzibar

    Good walking shoes on for Zanzibar’s historical tour. A local guide will show us around the Stonetown, the slave market, and finish up with a spice farm.

  • Location: Eastern Zanzibar

    We will be checking out of our hotel in Stonetown after breakfast and head to another hotel by the beaches on the east side of Zanzibar. After check-in feel free to enjoy the beaches and water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving and so forth (this will be and additional cost).

  • Location: Eastern Zanzibar

    Another day to enjoy the beaches and do optional water activities. We will have a group dinner to say our goodbyes.
